iBeacon is the name for Apple’s technology standard, which allows Mobile Apps (running on both iOS and Android devices) to listen for signals from beacons in the physical world and react accordingly. In essence, iBeacon technology allows Mobile Apps to understand their position on a micro-local scale, and deliver hyper-contextual content to users based on location. The underlying communication technology is Bluetooth Low Energy.
Bluetooth Low Energy is pretty much similar to regular Bluetooth. It's a new Bluetooth technology featured in Bluetooth 4.0 standard. It's a simple system for wireless connections within short distances. To be able to enjoy this new Bluetooth technology, it needs to be equipped with the most recent Bluetooth chip that is compatible with the 4.0 version of the Bluetooth standard.
Basically, Cubecons are able to work in a radius of more than 40-80 meters, but it won’t work for ibeacon hardware. Ideally, they work in range of 10-20 meters.
No! If customers have the application but it is inactive, they still can receive notifications while they're within cubeacon range.
